Robert George Plumb was born on 29th November 1921 (Newmarket Q1-1921 3B:836), baptised 5th June 1927 in Fordham, son of Robert George and Annie PLUMB (née HODGE), of Carter Street, Fordham.

In 1939 the family were at 17 Council Houses, Mildenhall Road, Fordham - father Robert G [24-12-1883] general labourer; mother Fanny [18-9-1892; brother Michael J [10-10-1928] school. There are 2 closed records.

Captured by the Japanese on the fall of Singapore in February 1942, he was put to work on the Burma-Siam railway. He died on malaria at 230 Kilo
